The BoTop, Deconstructed
As I gear up to launch the exclusive Meadow FW/2026 Collection, I wanted to take you a little deeper into the design process, share the story behind the BoTop, and say it a little louder for the people in the back.
A style every girl loves, and looks good in. The BoTop is for the girls who raided their dad's closet for a classic oversized work shirt - for the girl that slipped into her boyfriend's shirt the morning after, sipping coffee feeling effortlessly sexy - for the boss.
Masculine in spirit, feminine in design.
The name BoTop is a play on the word bow. Made from high end vintage men's dress shirts, they feature a gathered pinched detail in the back. Creating the illusion of a bow, without actually being one. A feminine twist on a boxy masculine silhouette. The cropped hem sits right at the smallest part of a woman's figure, flattering every body type.
The name came to be when I was nursing my second child during covid. My beautiful Bodhi, who nursed for over 2 years around the clock. I was tired of my comfy sets and was ready to wear actual clothing. The fit was oversized - big enough to fit my engorged breasts and oversized arms from pregnancy. I typically would pair the top with a sleek legging, cute sneakers, and would wear out and about running errands, swim lessons etc. It made me feel human, chic, and comfortable.
Since the launch in 2022 the BoTop has evolved. Each top is one of a kind, found in a range of colors, textures, prints and hidden details. Styled your way, from the bedroom to the boardroom. Dressed up, dressed down, a little undone. For the needed girls date, the hot date, and everything in between.
About 2 years ago a client contacted me about potentially reworking one of her father's shirts, who had just heartbreakingly passed away. This wasn't just any shirt, this was Burberry.
I was honored, touched, and inspired. I said a prayer and took the scissors to that dreamy buttery Burberry fabric.
The BoTop Keepsake was born.
A more personal take on the original BoTop. Made from the shirt of a loved one who has passed, each BoTop Keepsake transforms something they once wore into something you can wear and keep close. A comforting, chic way to carry a little piece of them with you.
Borrowed from the boys, a little undone, and entirely your own. A timeless piece worth keeping.
